About us

Roanoke Free Little Art Galleries was created by a group of local Roanoke artists dedicated to promoting grassroots art and community connection through the installation of Free Little Art Galleries (FLAG) in Roanoke VA. By providing an accessible venue for the public to give, take and enjoy art together, we aim to make art an integrated and joyful part of community life.

How it works

Free Little Art Galleries work the same way as Free Little Libraries except you can leave or take art instead of books. All visitors may take one piece of their favorite artwork. The Free Little Library at 16 West Marketplace downtown Roanoke also offers an art supply drawer to donate or take art supplies. All donated wall art can be no larger than 6" x 4". 3D art such as ceramics, wood or fiber crafts can be no bigger than 4" tall and 2" all around. Our Gallery host changes art frequently so there is always something new and surprising in the gallery.

There are many ways to support Roanoke Free Little Art Galleries. Whether you're an artist looking to contribute, a community member interested in hosting a gallery, or someone who enjoys art, we welcome your involvement.

Contribute your artwork

Come visit the Free Little Art Gallery at 16 West Marketplace on Church Avenue downtown Roanoke. We are inside the 16 West marketplace directly across from the Little Green Hive Coffee Bar. The FLAG is open whenever the 16 West Marketplace is open. Hours:

Host a FLAG art night

Your art club or group can share your love of art with your community by hosting a FLAG art night to make mini artworks for the free little art gallery. Contact our FLAG host for submission details and guidelines through this website or DM us our Instagram page.
